Our Brand Story
From a young age I can remember my dad Frans Joubert enjoyed doing woodwork in the garage, making all sorts of things from toys to cupboards. With grace, he started a small home-grown business which eventually became a full-time occupation when he acquired Lumber City in 2007.
We operated Lumber City as a family business, providing exceptional products and services to our customers.
Lumber City’s slogan, “we’re the wood guys” was used even though the business only offered cutting and edging services at that time. We soon expanded the business to include built-in cupboards for residential kitchens and bedrooms. A name change was inevitable, so the business transitioned from Lumber City to Kitchens Unlimited.
Live is a race and in my case a relay my dad gave me the baton in 2019.
My dad not only taught me how to do woodwork but showed me what is life all about. Doing business with honesty and integrity, treating people with respect and dignity. My natural drive to implement workable systems helped the business to push through difficult times.
We enjoy creating spaces where families and companies can build memories. We are honored to have worked on stellar projects like: Mortimer Toyota Group, Mediclinic Newcastle, Amajuba College, etc.

We use advanced CNC (Computer Numeric Controlled) machines to ensure each part is cut with precision, leaving smooth edges without any chip marks, and to the exact size required.
